FIL Author Cloud

Electroland was commissioned by the Guadalajara University International Literary Festival and National Endowment for the Arts to create a large projection based art project for the Los Angeles pavilion. The piece consists of a text cloud comprised of over 200 Los Angeles author names, projected along an 80' x 18' wall. The content can be interacted with through a 40" touch screen, allowing visitors to move the cloud around as well as click on author names to reveal quotes and biographical information.

My role on the project was to work with Electroland as well as graphic designer Andy Goldman to bring the static and motion comps to actuation by developing interactive software in the Processing language. I developed an algorithm for creating a generative system of floating names, and used OpenGL and the library Most Pixels Ever to synchronize the application across three projectors and a touch screen.
